I got more acronyms

got new PRPS
and that’s in my genes.
I got letters and they’re better
than a B, M double U,
my jumper says APC
and my heart is always true.
I love my LV wallet,

and my logos are more subtle
because I don’t look like them.
I hang out with Nigo and Pharrell
in all the latest BBC
and my hands are in the air
backstage with NERD.
So time to drop the bass

because labels all mean nothing

This is the new poetry,
just like the old poetry,
everything changes
and nothing changes.
I’ve seen such self-conscious
words they’d be embarrassed
to prop up a bar with mine.
Words dripping with simile
and metaphor all getting drunk
before their bodies hit the floor.
This is the new poetry,
just like the old poetry,
so alternative and so hipster
it hurts and I don’t know
what either of those words mean
and it’s cool to rhyme and it’s
so not cool and it’s not cool
to say cool anymore.
There are words with heart
and there are words with balls
and there are words about
ribcages and flowers and hurting
themselves and trying to find
themselves because they’ve never
been used before.
And there are whore words, used
so often, so don’t use those
or risk the wrath of the elite,
the nouveau poets, the starving
in a garret writers, the lovers,
the fighters. The moleskin scribblers,
the dabblers, the write every day-ers, the prayers, the intellectuals,
the pseudo-intellectuals, the practical, the stream of thought words and I love it all.
So come give me your words,
your old poetry, your new poetry, your i dont give a fuck about punctuation or speeling poetree.
This is the new poetry,
just like the old poetry,

and nothing

and that’s why I keep reading.

It seems these days it’s a bit of a disadvantage to be good looking and a writer, as if there is a correlation between aesthetics and talent and ‘fame’. I wouldn’t describe The Rolling Stones as incredibly handsome men. Robert de Niro is no male model. No one even really knows what Daft Punk look like (I do but I’m an obsessive) and each are successful in fields normally associated with needing to be attractive. This tells me something and I hope it tells you something. I do not judge on sexuality, race, gender, height, weight, anything. The only thing I will judge you on is your actions. How you look is mainly a result of genetics, randomness and a certain amount of moisturiser, etc. How you act and what you do with your life is up to you, so please read someone’s writing and separate it from any external factors. You can bring all that in later when they’re famous and students around the land are writing essays on whether so and so’s life was marked by the war he/she took part in, blah blah blah. I follow faceless writers, male writers, female writers…I follow people, but if a goddamn computer program wrote poetry that I enjoyed, hell I’d follow it, some of you might even be robots and that’s rad. Prejudice is an ugly word, but to me everyone is attractive and I base that on who they are as a person. Rambling over, thanks for reading, carry on :)
