Tea & Simplicity
Let us have tea
and simplicity,
no complicated babble
of the mind
to ruin our enjoyment
of the night.
Pass the pot
and stir the milk,
I’ll drink simple
words from your lips.
Tell me about your day
and I’ll sit here rapt,
cross-legged on the
wooden floor
with my chin cupped
in my hands.
I don’t want to know
of distant lands
or stories you keep
between your ribs,
this is time to murmur
to each other
and settle down to sleep.
