Veins So Blue
In the night
you are more beautiful,
if that is possible.
Light attacks your features
as ravenous creatures
tearing at your outline.
In the dark you’re blurred,
I have observed, and as
indistinct shapes we waltz
in the moonlight.
I don’t have music, it’s
a new apartment and my records
are still boxed-up, but I’ll hum instead,
I hope it’s enough.
You can keep time with my heartbeat,
one-two-three,
one-two-three.
It’s pulsing warm blood
through my veins so blue
in the knowledge that the only one
I’ll ever dance with is you.
